Laurie Smith - Administrator

Laurie has worked in health care administration for over 30 years on the Central Coast and has been with Wilshire Health & Community Services for 15 years as an Administrator. Laurie is currently the Regional Administrator, responsible for the day to day operations of all of the home care and hospice agencies in Southern California, on the Central Coast & in the Central Valley. When Laurie is not working, she enjoys spending time with her granddaughters and relaxing at her Nacimiento lake house. Laurie lives in Orcutt with her chocolate lab Stitch.


Steve Willey - Volunteer Manager

Steve Willey has been the Volunteer Manager for Wilshire Hospice since May 31st 2011. Steve began his Hospice career in 1995 as a volunteer and Home Health Aide for San Luis Obispo County Home Health and Hospice. In 1997 he became Volunteer Coordinator for Hospice of San Luis Obispo County, the county's original volunteer hospice, where he remained until joining the Hospice Partners team in 2011.

Steve has a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and one in Social Sciences with a teaching emphasis, and has completed the 4-unit Sacred Art of Dying course through the Sacred Art of Living Center in Oregon. In 2001, he helped to found the Hospice inspired Supportive Care Services Program at the California Men's Colony which trains inmates to provide compassionate end of life support to fellow inmates within the institution. Steve continues to be involved with this program assisting with trainings and the facilitation of groups. His roles at Wilshire Hospice include the training, supervision and nurturing of the In-Home volunteers (those who volunteer directly with patients and their families), mindfully assigning these volunteers with their clients, arranging continuing education and retreat opportunities for the volunteers and compiling the quarterly Volunteer Newsletter.

Along with his partner of 30 plus years, Dominic, Steve calls Morro Bay home and loves life on the Central Coast. Steve's passions include travel, cooking and swimming in the Mediterranean. Working with the dying and the grieving has been his greatest teacher and continues to be a source of inspiration and meaning.



Vicki Jackson-Smith – Director of Office Operations

Vicki Jackson-Smith started working for Hospice Partners of the Central Coast in 2006 as the Human Resource Coordinator. Throughout her 7+ years with the company she has worked with all departments and is now the Director of Office Operations for Wilshire Hospice. She oversees the office operations, works closely with the IT department, and manages a small, hardworking office team. Vicki is passionate about fitness and the outdoors. She has been a Group Fitness instructor since 1995 and teaches at a local club. Her hobbies are riding her road bike, swimming, hiking and riding her horse, Pirate (he is blind in one eye). When she's not out and about she's relaxing, reading or watching Formula 1 racing with her husband and 17+ year old cat.




Luiza Dutra RN - Director of Patient Care Services

Luiza received her degree in nursing from Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, CA, and was awarded her Bachelors in Nursing from CSU-Bakersfield; she is proud to have just completed her Palliative Nurse Certification. She has been working in hospice for five years as an RN, Case Manager, and Clinical Supervisor and now brings her skill and enthusiasm to her new role as Director of Patient Care Services.

When not being an excellent resource to patients and staff at Wilshire Hospice, Luiza spends time with friends and family. One of her goals is to complete a medical Missions Trip in the future. She recently went to Mexico on a Missions Trip to build a home for a family in need!
